March was our birthday month, and many of you may remember our 10th birthday celebrations in 2021 being featured on BBC Northwest. We have come so far since the shop was first established in 2011 and more recently with the creation of Gawsworth Hub as a community enterprise.

We are regularly looking at ways to adapt our services and products to meet the changing needs of our community and welcome your ideas and suggestions. Did you know that you can reserve newspapers and your favourite magazines for collection and to save a trip into Macclesfield you can also order Chatwins bread and Spearings pies at the shop – please order before 11am for next day delivery. Our range of bacon, sausages and black puddings are provided by Wilcox butchers who can also supply any special orders you have for fresh meat, delivered to the shop on Fridays. For more details, please ask in the shop.

As we continue to grow, we are keen to encourage more volunteers to support our activities and give back to the local community, in particular we need to strengthen our Board by adding two new people to our team. Could you be our Communications Coordinator and lead on our external communications and PR activities?  This is a new, proactive board role, and the holder will have the opportunity to define the role in detail. Additional volunteer support will be available to assist you. If you have experience in promotions and communications, we would love to chat with you.  In June 2022, our current Company Secretary will be stepping down after 3 years in the role and we are looking for a replacement. The Company Secretary ensures that the organisation meets it statutory requirements. This role would suit an individual with strong analytical and administrative skills.

The Board typically meets every six weeks, and most Board members have specific areas of responsibility. For further details about these roles and other current volunteer opportunities, please visit our website  or contact  Daryl Williams on 07967 408865 or email
