If there is anything that we have learned over recent difficult times, it is that community matters. At Gawsworth Hub there are 17 people who personify this and who have been celebrated for their dedication to volunteering in the shop which has cheerfully served our community for eleven years.
All this takes huge effort to deliver: On 2nd April 2022, the Hub directors raised a glass to seventeen of this remarkable 50 – strong band, including three married couples, who have given a combined total of over 26,500 hours of their time to make Gawsworth Hub what it is today: a thriving community resource, run by volunteers who clearly enjoy their commitment to neighbourliness and goodwill. We welcome new volunteers to support our team. From just a few hours a month, you can get involved, meet new people, make new friends and give back to your local community. For further information please call into the Hub or visit our website www.gawsworthhub.co.uk.
Now that the weather seems to be improving, why not pop along to the café, enjoy a cuppa and meet others. Our outside seating area has been particularly popular with cyclists, dog walkers and parents dropping off or collecting children from school. Our inside facilities include an accessible toilet and baby changing facilities for customers.
The café and shop provide a wide range of light refreshments to eat in or take away, in addition to a range of locally sourced products, gifts and cards. We even stock duck food if you are planning a trip to the ponds by Gawsworth Hall.
If you are working from home and need to take some time away from your screen, why not stretch your legs and come and enjoy a quick lunch in the Hub. If you prefer, call us and pre-order sandwiches to collect.
What do you want from your Community Hub? We are currently developing a vision and strategy for the next 3 years. In June, we will be holding an open community discussion to present the plan and get your feedback. Please come along and have your say! We will also be showcasing products from our local suppliers. Sunday 12th June at 2pm in the Village Hall.
